Most Visit issues come down to a few common causes — iOS version, language setting, or microphone permission. This article covers what you need and how to fix the most frequent problems.
Requirements
iOS 26 or later — recording and live transcription require iOS 26. On older versions, you can still prepare questions and take notes, but the microphone and transcript features are not available.
US English — live transcription works in US English only. If your device has multiple languages set up, Kiri may ask you to download the on-device English speech model.
Microphone permission — Kiri must have microphone access to record. If you denied it previously, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and turn on Kiri.
My recap is empty after a notes-only visit
Kiri builds the recap from your notes. If the notes are too brief or do not include specific details (medication names, doses, follow-up dates, or "call if…" instructions), there may not be enough to extract. Add more specific notes and tap Finish & save visit again, or add key things manually in the recap step.
The transcript is blank or cut off
Check that the phone was not muted or placed face-down during the visit.
Confirm the microphone permission is still on (the device may have reset it after an iOS update).
If the transcript shows partial text, the recording may have been interrupted. The content that was captured before the interruption is preserved.
I closed the app during a recording
Kiri saves a recovery draft automatically when the app is interrupted. The next time you open Visit, you will see a banner offering to restore the interrupted session. Tap Restore to pick up where you left off, or dismiss it to start fresh.
The visit is stuck on "Organizing"
The organizing step requires a brief internet connection to process the transcript.
Check that your phone has a signal or is connected to Wi-Fi, then wait a moment — it usually completes within 60 seconds.
If it stays stuck, close and reopen the app. The session will resume from where it stopped.
