Can I use voice logging offline?

Voice logging requires an internet connection to work correctly.

Updated over a month ago

Kiri’s voice logging is a two-step process:

  1. Speech to text on your device

    • When you tap the microphone, iOS does the first layer of speech recognition directly on your iPhone or iPad.

    • This turns your voice into text without leaving your device.

  2. Understanding with Kiri’s AI in the cloud

    • The text is then sent securely to Kiri’s servers.

    • Our AI interprets what you said (e.g., whether it was a feed, a nap, or a growth measurement) and creates the right type of entry.

Because of this second step, an internet connection is required for voice logging to work.

What you can do offline

  • Manual logging: You can still add feeds, sleep, diapers, activities, and growth metrics by hand.

  • Automatic sync: Offline manual entries will sync across devices once you’re connected again.

👉 Summary: No — Kiri’s voice logging requires internet. iOS handles the speech-to-text part locally, but Kiri’s cloud AI needs a connection to correctly understand and categorize what you said.
