How is my data stored and encrypted?

Your data is encrypted in transit, encrypted at rest, and stored in secure HIPAA-compliant systems.

Updated over a month ago

Kiri protects your child’s data with the same security standards used in healthcare. Every piece of information you log — from feeds and sleep to profile photos — is encrypted and stored safely.

🔒 Encryption in transit

  • Whenever data moves between your device and Kiri’s servers, it is protected using TLS (Transport Layer Security).

  • This ensures that no one can “listen in” while your entries travel across the internet.

🗄 Encryption at rest

  • Once your data reaches our servers, it’s encrypted again while stored (“at rest”).

  • Even if someone accessed the physical storage system, the data would be unreadable without the proper keys.

🛡 Secure cloud infrastructure

  • Kiri runs on HIPAA-compliant cloud providers that also follow strict security and privacy controls.

  • Systems are monitored and audited for compliance.

🖼 Profile photos too

  • Your child’s profile images are also encrypted and only visible to authorized users you invite.

✅ Why this matters

  • End-to-end encryption means your child’s journal and photos are kept safe at every step.

  • You stay in control — only you and your invited caregivers or pediatricians can access them.

👉 Summary: Kiri encrypts your data both while it’s moving (in transit) and while it’s stored (at rest). It’s all kept in secure HIPAA-compliant systems, so your child’s journal and photos are always private.
